Le Caravage (1571-1610), de son vrai nom Michelangelo Merisi est un peintre qui va bouleverser l'art pictural au XVIIème siècle, et va l'influencer jusqu'au XIXème siècle avec le " Caravagisme ". L'artiste met en ?uvre une approche saisissante avec un naturalisme radical, une observation physique étroite avec une ?uvre dramatique (voir théâtrale) et l'utilisation dominante du clair-obscur. Malgré une vie tumultueuse, son talent est reconnu par ses tiers et de nombreuses commandes lui sont faites, principalement de scènes religieuses comme " La Conversion de saint Paul ".

Caravaggio (1571-1610), whose real name was Michelangelo Merisi, was a painter who revolutionized the art of painting in the 17th century and influenced it until the 19th century with "Caravaggio". The artist implemented a striking approach with a radical naturalism, a close physical observation with a dramatic work (see theatrical) and the dominant use of chiaroscuro. Despite a tumultuous life, his talent was recognized by others and he was commissioned to paint many religious scenes, such as "The Conversion of Saint Paul".
